Welcome to the dark and contentious world of La Cuna, where the ‘haves’ give their wealth, secrets and dignity to the ‘have nots’ in return for safety, privacy and pleasure, often paid in the lost innocence of naive visitors.

La Cuna, once known as Santa Lucía, was founded in the late 1800s as a mining town nestled in the heart of the desert. Rich veins of silver and gold brought fortune seekers from all over, transforming the small settlement into a bustling hub of activity almost overnight. The streets were lined with saloons, shops, and boarding houses, catering to the influx of miners and their families. The town’s early days were filled with promise and prosperity.

As the years passed, the mines began to dry up, and the town faced a crossroads. Instead of fading into obscurity like so many other boomtowns, Santa Lucía adapted. The town’s remote location and lawless reputation made it an ideal hideout for outlaws and fugitives, and soon it became a haven for those seeking refuge from the authorities. It was during this time that the town’s name began to change in the whispers of those who lived there, eventually becoming known as La Cuna, the Cradle—a nod to its role as a cradle of crime.

The transformation was gradual but irreversible. The town’s legitimate businesses were overshadowed by gambling dens, speakeasies, and brothels. Corruption seeped into every level of society, with the local law enforcement either on the take or too afraid to intervene. The once-prosperous mining town had fully embraced its new identity as a city where the rules were made by those with the power to enforce them.

By the mid-20th century, neon signs blazed against the night sky, advertising everything from high-stakes poker games to illicit substances. Now, the city is taken by different criminal organizations, from the ruthless Lobos gang to the enigmatic syndicate The Cartel led by the Mayor herself.

Yet, despite its dark underbelly, La Cuna had a strange allure. It is a place where fortunes could still be made, where dreams, however twisted, could still be realized. It is a city of contradictions, where hope and despair coexisted in a fragile balance.

Amidst the chaos and corruption, there are those who tries to bring some semblance of order. Grassroots community groups and vigilantes emerged, attempting to reclaim their neighborhoods from the grip of organized crime. These efforts were often short-lived, crushed under the weight of the powerful crime lords who ruled the city with an iron fist.

La Cuna’s reputation spread far and wide. It became known as a place where anything could be bought for the right price, where the weak were preyed upon and the strong thrived. It is the city that chewed people up and spit them out, leaving behind only the most cunning and ruthless.
